摘要

埃吕尔宣传研究创造性地汲取古典社会学资源和现象学思潮,从技术社会学的路径突破以美国实证研究、效果研究为主导的传播研究局限。他深受马克思影响,但不同于法兰克福学派对意识形态的强调,也不同于传播政治经济学对传统马克思主义经济基础/上层建筑的重构方式,而是服膺马克思的整体论和辩证法;他汲取韦伯的理解社会学和宗教社会学养分,但反对其“价值无涉”原则,继承韦伯的科层制分析,又丰富了人们对科层制及大众社会的理解纬度;他在集体主义分析视角等方面与涂尔干相似,但又拒斥后者的经验主义。埃吕尔还以“面向事情本身”的现象学精神,描述了技术现象,并分析了作为一种技艺的宣传。从方法论层面分析埃吕尔宣传研究理论起点及逻辑,有助于深入理解其宣传分析范式的学术脉络及创造性,探索其对信息传播领域的分析,拓展媒介社会学的想象力。

Abstract

Ellul’s propaganda research ingeniously integrate classical sociological resources and phenomenological trends. He transcends the limitations of communication research dominated by American empirical and effect research from the path of technological sociology. He was deeply influenced by Marx, but unlike the Frankfurt School's emphasis on ideology and the political economy of communication’s reconstruction of the traditional Marxist economic foundation/superstructure, he adhered to Marx's holistic and dialectical approach; he absorbed Weber’s understanding sociology and religious sociology, but rejected its principle of “value free”, inherited Weber's analysis of bureaucracy, and enriched the latitude of bureaucracy and mass society; he is similar to Durkheim in the collectivist analytical perspective, but rejects the latter’s empiricism. Employing a phenomenological spirit oriented towards the phenomenon itself, Ellul vividly describes technological phenomena and analyses propaganda as a form of skillful technique. From the perspective of methodology, the analysis of the theoretical starting point and logic of Ellul's propaganda research will help to deeply understand the academic context and creativity of his propaganda analysis paradigm, and explore the expansion space provided by his propaganda analysis for the imagination of media sociology.
