Abstract

American presidential politics features socialized performance, which is particularly obvious within the post-truth politics with the rise of network. Through the analysis of American presidential politics by semio-narratology, combined with Media Situation Theory and Discourse Theory, this paper defnes its narrative type as a factual narrative, then points out its narrative content as the design of actor’s scripts. At the same time, this paper reveals the media discourse strategies and the intention of the narrators of American Presidential Politics from negative and positive dimensions. Interpretative communities’ meaning interpretation determines the types, contents, and skills of the American presidential politics’ media narrative texts. Therefore, the study of American presidential politics in the “post-truth” era should focus on the acceptance of American people as the basic starting point.
