“传播”一词意义丰富，最基本的解释是“交流”“交往”和“沟通”。围绕着交流的可能与不可能，传播思想史的论述分化为两条河流，一条探索人的不可交流性，一条围绕共同性展开叙述。前者以哲学思辨为主，后者拥抱实用主义。根据现象学的分析，人的交流具有双重性——不可完全掌握他者的意义，但也并非全然不能理解。从思想史跳出来看，对共同性的追求是政治世界和日常生活更为显著的话语。本文认为，我们应该建立“免于交往的自由”之观念，承认和尊重人的不可交流性，进而实现一种关于交往的文明。

The basic meaning of communication is interaction. The history of idea of communication differentiated into two rivers which one was exploring the improbability of communication by philosophical insight, the other was pursuing the community in the society by the view of pragmatism. According to Phenomenological analysis, the fact of communication has a dual nature. To reach a civilization, it is suggested that admit the improbability of communication and build a concept of “free from communication”.
