Abstract

Basing on a recently survey of the Chinese mainland journalists, the research aimed at the media role conceptions of contemporary Chinese journalists, its changes and predictors. It found that in comparison with 15 years ago, Journalists give less emphasis on the media function as the ” mouthpiece” and the watchdog of government. In addition, the media role conceptions of Chinese journalists are influenced by the media property (market-oriented newspaper VS publicity-orientated party newspaper), media types (website VS newspaper) and Internet using behavior.
