本文尝试从近代学科术语生成的角度来考察新闻自由的概念。笔者在文献阅读中，发现“新闻自由”在1930年代前就已经出现，而此前的观点认为是在1944年下半年；在“言论自由”、“出版自由”尚不能完全覆盖的地方出现了一些新的说法，并最终在中文世界产生了“新闻自由”；“新闻自由”概念的出现是近代新观念不断输入的结果，其流行开来也说明本土存在着支持这一概念生成的若干因素。

This article tries to investigate the concept of "freedom of the press "from the perspective of the generation of modern subject term.In the process of reading the original literature,we find that "freedom of the press" has emerged before 1930s whereas it has long been recognized in the second half of 1944. Some new views are emerging where "freedom of speech"and "freedom of press" can't fully cover.Finally "freedom of press" are born in the Chinese world.The emergence of the concept of "freedom of the press" results form the constant input of the modern new ideas.And its popularity illustrates that the local has a number of factors supporting the notion.
