中国近代报刊史和近代中国城市的变迁是紧密交织在一起的，城市是窥视中国近代报业发展历程的一个非常重要的面向。在以政治史、革命史范式为主导的近代中国报刊史研究中，城市与报刊的关系被“需要与被需要”的框架所束缚。本文认为可以在近代城市史的视角下，重视近代城市政治、经济、文化各个层面对报刊产生的影响，从而突破“需要与被需要”的解释框架，构建一个立体的、丰富的、互动的城市与报刊关系。

        The history of Chinese newspapers intertwines tightly with the change of Chinese cities. Cities are very important dimension to look through the development of Chinese modern newspapers. The relationship between cities and newspapers is bound by the framework of “need and to be needed” on the political and revolutionary paradigm of Chinese modern newspapers history. To break through the framework of “need and to be needed”the article argues that the researchers should pay attention to cities’ political, economical, cultural impact on the newspapers in the perspective of modern urban history and rebuild a three-dimensional, rich and interactive relationship between cities and newspapers.
