Herbert Schiller is the spiritual leader of political economy of communication. It’s necessary to
reread Schiller and rediscover the value of his work, in a decade years after his death. Schiller advances the
concept of Media Imperialism, criticizes the mind management and manipulation, opposes liberalism media
policy, reveals the deceit and paradox of information age, and expresses his anxiety about the social crisis
brought by information inequality. Although one-sided occasionally, Schiller’s study is of important value,
which still deserves us to study today.
