本文从都市化角度研究黄伯惠时期《时报》的黄色新闻，指出其特色正如美国社会学家帕克所说，报刊由“参考”功能走向“表达”功能：内容从短小消息发展到人情味故事，版面从小豆腐块发展到整版的图文并茂，印刷从十指染墨发展到精美套印，新闻中还开始有了意见的表达。在实现“表达”功能的同时，《时报》对一系列轰动性事件的连续报道也深化了“大众文化”的意义。

This paper studies the yellow journalism in Huang Bohui’s The Eastern Times from the perspective of urbanization. Just as R.E. Park said, the function of newspapers turned from “reference” to “expression”: from short message to “human interest” stories, more pictures, better printing and even opinions and attitudes in news reports. Moreover, the continuous coverage of the popular cases deepened the meaning of “mass culture”.
