Understanding Virtual Objects: A New Perspective in Internet Anthropology

Abstract

With the widespread influence of the Internet, the form of objects is changing. Not only the real objects move from the real life to the Internet world, but also a large number of virtual objects appear in the Internet world. From the study of anthropology, virtual objects are generated by real objects and virtual objects existing in traditional social culture through binary number operation, is formed in a digital operating system by borrowing various elements, is a kind of digital information as the meaning of the text. The understanding of virtual objects helps people to reunderstand the relationship between objects and technology, and to rethink the relationship between objects and human beings. By observing and explaining the social life of virtual objects, researchers can open up a new vision for the research of Internet anthropology. From the field of news and communication, the research of virtual objects will also expand the field's concern for the small issues in the life world formed by people and technology, and provide an attempt for the relevant empirical research and theoretical innovation.
