Research On the Undergraduate Talent Development of Journalism and Communication Under the Background of New Liberal Arts

Abstract

The construction of new liberal arts emphasizes the cross integration of disciplines and equal emphasis on theory and practice, which points out the reform direction of journalism and communication education. Based on the content analysis of the latest undergraduate training programs of 59 journalism and communication colleges, this article analyzes the status and difficulties in the undergraduate talent development of journalism and communication. Based on the problems reflected by the data, we interviewed 16 experts from academia and industry. On this basis, this study proposes the following recommendations: undergraduate education in journalism and communication should update the classification standards of major subjects, reconstruct the knowledge frameworks, optimize the curriculum systems, and make interdisciplinary knowledge more suitable for journalism and communication, and focus on the development of ability-based talents.
