Abstract

This is a research paper based on an in-depth survey conducted in the Beijing region in the autumn of 2018. Investigation reveals that the staff of media in capital area have a high degree of overlapping with a group who possesses high professional ideals and strong sense of social responsibility. Besides, whether an individual can achieve individualization seems to have become an important factor for journalists to consider when making career choices, and there is much to look forward to in the future of the media industry. Besides, related to job-seeking motivation, a series of cognition on journalists' professional roles and social functions by the staff of media would be militated with the ever-changing current communication environment. Journalists' professional roles, social functions and job-seeking motivations are always linked together tightly.
