Abstract

This essay focuses on 26 environmental events which took place between 2007 and 2016 and were reported and discussed by both traditional media and new media with QCA method, and analyzes the communication logic of environmental movements in mediated society. It has been found that the central mainstream media is much more important, while the network opinion leaders have limits. The spreading process of environmental movements can be divided into three stages: the event enters the public agenda and becomes a public issue; the content is constructed by the media; the issue's appeal turns from fact to value, which shows the problems about both limits of media communication and defciency of people’s environmental consciousness.
