For empirical research, facts matter. This paper holds that there are some factual errors in The International Publications of Mainland China’s Communication Research due to the incomplete time coverage of the database and the lack of carefulness in the research. This paper fnds that up to now, Chinese scholars have ranked the sixth in the number of papers in SSCI communication journals in the world, and Chinese scholars have begun to emerge on the international communication stage. At the same time, in recent years, the in?uence of Chinese scholars' communication studies in SSCI journal has been continuously expanding, and mainland scholars are expected to become the leader in the production of SSCI journal papers among Chinese scholars. This paper proposes that the process should be clear and transparent in empirical research. When using a database, scholars should keep close eyes on the scope and other relevant information and take special care in the statistics, identifcation and analysis of data.
