Journalism Curriculum and Instruction of North Carolina University in Media Convergence Era
In this changing media world, the gap between traditional journalism education model and the actual need of the media is getting bigger. This article explores the valuable measures taken by North Carolina University at Chapel Hill in training direction, goal orientation, instructional resources, curriculum system, teaching methods and other aspects to bridge this gap. These measures include emphasizing on the comprehensive quality and innovation ability, and preparing students to be innovators and leaders in the future media world; constructing excellent faculty in the era of digital media, and creating frst-class hardware facilities for teaching; developing professional teaching program which possess the characteristics combined with wide knowledge, flexibility and autonomy; widely using immersion teaching method; and keeping reforming curriculum and specializations with media convergence as the core. These will give positive reference to the journalism education reform in China.
