Abstract

As the world has entered into an era of “post-west”, “post-order” and “post-truth” since 2016, political communication has encountered unprecedented challenges in terms of legitimacy and feasibility both from theoretical foundation and from practical paradigm. By way of delineating the evolutionary threads, the present study proposes a new approach of “provincializing” political communication research to transcend from the westernizing/dewesternizing dichotomy. Based upon China’s unique model of political system and ambitious mission of re-orienting neo-globalization, the present study argues for a more active role played by Chinese academia during this process of “provincializing” political communication research.
