This research introduces the theory of selective spiral. The theory attempts to connect, integrate, expand, and apply the classic empirical theories of communication research, therefore a mega theory. It includes a theory of communication theories, therefore a meta theory. It makes predictions about communication behavior and impact that can be tested empirically, therefore a predictive theory. Finally, it provides a framework of understanding that flls the gaps between empirical observations, connects dots, explains causes, and interprets meanings, therefore a presumptive theory.
