It is inevitable for muckraking happening in China because the nature of market economy of the socialist market economic system implemented by China after the reform and opening is proft-oriented. Thus, there is a similarity between the muckraking of recent China and that emerged in the US in the early 20th century. However, the differences between them are as follow: frstly, the institutional basis is different. The muckraking of the US was launched under the framework of the capitalist system, which has to face not only the drawbacks of the market economy but also that of the capitalist system. The socialist system implemented in China contributes to combine the market’s allocation of resources with the state's macroeconomic regulation and control of economic operations. Secondly, the media are different. The muckraking of the US has arisen in the initial stage of mass media; while, China’s is carried out under the conditions of the rapid development of the internet and the widespread of social media.
