Abstract

This article is a brief review of China’s journalism studies in 2017, based on a survey of important academic journal articles. It finds that China's journalism studies in 2017 generally have strong realistic concern characteristics, which to a certain extent has responded to the theoretical and practical problems in the development of the Chinese journalism. Specifically, the discussions on the changes of journalism have been more in-depth. The reinterpretation of news professionalism under new technology and historical conditions, the news innovation at the level of newsroom and the communication adaptation of party-owned media are the research highlights in this field. Some progress has been made in the research of frontier topics such as privacy paradoxes and algorithmic regulation under the Internet context. New topics or research perspectives have been introduced into the studies of journalists and the history of journalism, and more in-depth studies have been conducted.
