Abstract

This paper summarizes the main issues and key research fndings of Chinese communication studies in the year of 2016, based on a survey of articles in important academic journals of Chinesejournalism and communication. The research issues focus on communication theory, political communication, Internet politics, urban communication, geography of media, discourse studies, media use, social capital, gender communication, intercultural communication. These studies give consideration to both originality and normativity, with both theoretical signifcance and social implications. The overall research level has been greatly improved, and many old topics have been deeply discussed by using new concepts, new methods, or new materials.
