Research on Public Diplomacy Competence of Ethnic Chinese Students

Abstract

This paper report researches on the intercultural communication competence of new generations of ethnic Chinese studying in China at current stage. A specifically designed questionnaire applying to two small cohorts, assessed factors affecting their intercultural communication competence and provided empirical support for the reviewed research. The study identifes three key variables relating to intercultural communication competence: public diplomacy awareness, communicating willingness, and communicative competence. By applying standard statistical assessments of the data, the study fnds out the obvious correlation among the three variables. In particular, it shows that public diplomacy awareness and communicating willingness have signifcant impacts on the communicative competence of this group of students in China.
