Recently, fan-sub groups attract more and more attention with the growing popularity of American TV series in China. They have created many “great works” with their folk expression that is both down to earth and suitable for Internet communication. In general, this article describes how fansub groups work within the framework of cross-cultural communication. By analyzing the related media reports, the core characteristics of subtitle translation and communication will be outlined. Also, some “classic” cases will be examined.
