Abstract

This study is meant to explore the real-time news development and its in?uence on four Taiwanese mainstream newspapers, China Times, Liberty Times, United Daily News, and Apple Daily. The study employed the in-depth interviews as study method and interviewed eight journalists and two scholars. The results show: Four newspapers have set up the "Real-time news center" and dedicated in pursuing the immediate news ?ows. The emphasis on real-time news production has changed the working routines and the labor content of the journalists. Due to the 24 hours running real-time news, the labor density and strength are greatly increased. But as the outcomes, there are full of news farm contents and meaningless horse-racing news. Secondly, the news professionalism is sacrificed. The "exclusive news" and "real-time news" have been misinterpreted under the development of real-time news.
