Driven by the new technologies such as AI, IoT and VR/AR, a smart media age is coming. In the new era, everything may become media. Human works together with intelligent machines in the whole process of media and the interaction between man and machine may flially result in a self-evolution of media. In the aspect of news production, fve models will be formed with the introduction of intelligent machines: personalized news, machine writing, sensor news, immersive news and distributed news. The future media industry will be reshaped in four dimensions: user platform, news production system, news distribution system and information terminals. Though machine and algorithm will play important roles in the smart media age, human should surpass algorithm and insist on its own values. Also in the interaction of man and machine, humanistic concern should always be put frst.
