Abstract

Data journalism is a widespread practice in the global scope. The Guardian and The New York Times play as pioneers in the data journalism practice. This article reviews British and American Data Journalism Studies from 2011 to 2015. It shows that the academic research is closely related to the data journalism practice and the research issues are mainly concentrated on the production process, content, data literacy and ethics, while the researches on users’ reading experience, presentations on different media and communication effects are rare. The last part presents an outlook on future research.
