Abstract

The development of communication technology allows information to reach across the globe, and people living in different culture and different regions can receive these information as well. The global media ethics should replace the traditional regional media ethics due to this transformation, so that journalists can take responsibility as world's citizens. This is the reason why global media ethics is proposed by researchers. The theoretical foundation of global media ethics is cosmopolitan ethics and there are three perspectives about this topic which are ontological ethics, contract ethics and virtue ethics. Constructing global media ethical principles is an achievable vision from the cross-cultural perspectives which is based on a theoretical basis. But the idea has been questioned by cultural relativists and postcolonial theorists, which implys global media ethical principles that a global journalists accept and follow would be a Utopia.
