Abstract

The thesis argues that, there is indeed misunderstanding of several key conceptions such as ‘a ritual view of communication’, ‘media events’ and ‘media rituals’ in Chinese communication studies from the perspective of ritual. ‘A ritual view of communication’ means that ritual is not only an analogy to communication, but also the essence of communication— —communication equals ritual. ‘media events’ is a dynamic conception which has been continually doubted, complemented and revised, meanwhile it is identified. ‘media rituals’ is distinguished from and connected with ‘media events’.
