Abstract

Due to the crisis of scientists’ credibility and the difficulty of distinguishing the stands of scientists, making the genetic modification debate in mass media full of anxiety and confusion. How to deal with the relationship between scientists and journalists in the process of scientific knowledge production? This paper illustrates that the relations between scientists and journalists, who are key sources and producers of scientific knowledge, are competitive symbiotic. Thus, the key to solve this problem is to rebuild the trust through the mode of "scientists-media" and incentive mechanism. Only in this way, can scientists and journalists enhance their cooperation based on public responsibility and mutual trust.
