A Textual Research of ‘Folksongs report’

Abstract

Folksongs communication is an important form of opinion communication in Han Dynasty. ‘Folksongs report’ is an important channel of folk communication. There have been many different interpretations about the means of ‘folksongs report’. This paper analyses every factors of ‘folksongs report’. The author figures that the basic means of ‘folksongs report’ is that the governments of Zhou (state) and Jun (shire) send functionaries to their subordinate regions to examine the magistrates and find out the opinions of people in the second half of every year. In this course, these functionaries collect folksongs as datum. At the end of every year, the governments of Zhou and Jun report the datum and conclusions, which will be the foundations of the rewards and punishment to the magistrates to the central government.
