Abstract

This article tries to answer the question of “how news makes modernity possible” by the theory of Alfred Schultz’s “social world”. As a form of modern

culture, news mainly displays the change of common world and reconstructs the inner relation about social world. Because of the updating of social world, people are able to arrange life according to the present and themselves. In this sense, news promotes the process of the modernity.
