Abstract

Mass character is an important principle of Chinese party newspaper, and there had been a different position on masses in the party newspaper. From the early Chinese party newspaper to "Liberation Daily" before the revision, the masses in the party newspaper are the object of education, organization and agitation; After the revision, the party newspaper become a reporter, reflect and mouthpiece on masses during the Anti-Japanese War; After the victory of the war, especially since the beginning of the land reform propaganda, masses gradually become "learning objects" among party newspaper Workers. The focus of "mass" connotation had been changed constantly, and the reasons behind are the more complex, including both the party workers' cognitive change to the masses and the adjustment of propaganda policy during different periods of history, and even the adjustment of party's fundamental policy.
