As one of the world’s most famous religious cities, the modernity of Lhasa contains topics of “tradition and modern”, “development and protection”, “nations and states”. Based on the news reports about city traffic, housing conditions and leisure life on the Tibet Daily and Tibet Business Daily, the paper finds that Lhasa newspapers have construct a kind of harmonious landscape among nation and state, tradition and modern. In order to coordinate different communities of faith and interest on the road to modernization, Lhasa media have a responsibility to cultivate consciousness of citizenship.
