Abstract

The article focuses on explaining why the climax of Chinese writing its own press history happened in 1920s, and discussing the origin and logic of “the history of Chinese newspapers and periodicals” as narrative text. At that time the authors thought that “China” was not only the narrative range, but also writing position, with the prerequisite that Chinese press not only includesnoteworthyparticularities, but also had its own logic. With this prerequisite, the majority of thesetextsshowed the biased but self-consistentprospect, with the conflict between the two wings of “operation” and “spirit” as logic line.
