Abstract

Taking the Web of Science as data source, this paper analyzes the research focuses and trends of microblogging abroad by using cluster analysis and strategic diagram. The result shows that, the research fields are counted as 10 clusters, such as social media, information ethics, microblogging politics, electronic word-of-mouth, etc.; social media is the core focus; information ethics is likely to be the core research in the future; microblogging politics, electronic word-of-mouth, disaster warning & processing, and others possess the potential to become the cores. Text mining, information visualization, social network analysis, and others are the main methods in the research of microblogging.
