Abstract

Through content analyses of Chinese workers' images on the People's Daily , the Worker's Daily
and the Nanfang Metropolis Daily from 1995 to 2011, the paper finds that party newspapers hold a
condescension attitude in regard to Chinese workers, while market-oriented newspapers use a trauma
discourse, which can reinforce stereotype toward grass-roots.
