Abstract

By comparing reports on the Chinese immigrant newspaper World Daily and the American
mainstream counterpart USA Today about Obama’s hosting a naturalization ceremony, the essay analyses
how Chinese immigrant media represent the American government and Chinese immigrants, by weaving
a larger picture of some sort of “social myth”, thus reveals the influence of immigrant media on dynamic
interaction between Chinese immigrants and the mainstream of American society.
