Abstract

Cultural awards produce not only its specific “object” (i.e., the crowned work) but also its specific “subject” (the winner), with journalism awards no exception. This paper draws on three different sets of statistical data to depict a collective portrait for the winners of the highest official award ( i.e., the Changjiang & Taofen Journalism Award), according to a whole set of sociological variables, including gender, age, journalistic seniority, nationality, education attainment, political affiliation, professional title and administrative post.
