Analysis of Compromise in Media Copyright Disputes

Abstract

Media create unique news culture. In the process of producing such culture, media act both as creator and consumer. Nonetheless, copyright infringements happen sometimes. In the process of dealing with copyright disputes, media, as the defendant, commonly try to persuade plaintiff to compromise and withdraw claims. Even in judicial proceedings, courts, as well, prefer to encourage both sides make compromise. As result, the majority of such cases ended with compromising and the plaintiffs withdrawn their claims. This article aims to analyze and criticize this phenomenon in media copyright disputes.
