Public Opinion in Political Participation: An Analysis of “Dingwei Political Wave” Reports of Peking Gazzete

Abstract

“Dingwei Plitical Wave” was an important political event at the end of Qing Dynasty. Based on the content of Posthumous Work of Wang Rangqing, this article collected the historical materials to analyze the reports and influence of Peking Gazette in this political wave. It holds the point that Peking Gazzete is the unique power on pushing the public to take part in political affairs under the obvious political participation inclination. This reflects their efforts on putting forward the idea of revolution with the newspaper.
