Abstract

Karl Marx’ essay “London The Times and Lord Palmerston” was published on the New-York
Daily Tribune on October 21, 1861. In this paper, Marx analyzed the complex relationship between the
Newspapers’ profits and the political power in British. Based on the review of literature, we try to prove
that the orientation of the newspaper is decided by it’s own profits instead of political power. And in some
special occasions, the newspapers’ reliance on the political power is to acquire public acquaintance.
