Abstract

News reporting plays an important role in the process of national image building due to its timeliness, openness, universality and accessibility. CCTV NEWS is one of the national media engaged in external reporting. This study analyzes the contents of its flagship news program-China 24 within one week. It argues that the external reporting cannot attract foreign audiences unless it is crafted with professional standards. The external reporting can help improve the image of Chinese media, and further construct the national image of China on the world arena, thus winning credibility and more opportunities of self-presentation in the international community.
