Abstract

Some specific characters' names (symbols) not only represent a person by himself, but also
represent a theory, a system, a culture, and convey meaning and enhance understanding and establish
the framework of thinking, which should be built on a normative framework of a name (symbol). Do the
translated names in books of journalism and communication studies fully play their roles as mentioned
above? How is the normative status of the translation of names, This article explores these two questions
by studying on some translated names. It finds that the translation of English names is extremely
