Abstract

Many violent incidents named "destroying newspapers" happened in the press circle from 1946 to
1949, among which some privately-owned papers and their owners were attacked. Based on the reports
from some influential newspapers including Front-line Daily, this paper explores the relationship between
civil groups and government in context of press supervision, as well as living conditions of newspapers
and their owners.
