Contemporary Chinese journalism started its history since the founding of the People's Republic of China, which has experienced a tortuous development process in socialist construction and has been flourishing in the great era of Reform and Opening-up. At present, the comprehensive “three major systems”, including discipline, academic and discourse system respectively, are under construction. In this historical point, contemporary Chinese journalism faces many major issues of the times. Considering the overall picture of social development, especially the emerging media ecology, the paper selects major issues on contemporary Chinese journalism from the theoretical perspective, including its research object, theoretical nature, dominant concept, core content, overall target, practical pursuit, etc. The paper aims to make a macro-level analysis and explanation around these major issues, which may stimulate the journalism academia to conduct more in-depth and thorough research; hopefully promoting further development of contemporary Chinese journalism.
